Every song has a story. "Passed on Through" was written from a dream.
I have written and professionally produced several songs (leavingmeinpieces.com, goingbrokesavingmoney.com, and onebootoff.com).
My latest song is titled, "Passed on Through." For anyone who has lost someone special, I believe it will speak to you.
This song is a little different in the sense that one night during a dream I started singing the title and some of the lyrics. It was so powerful that it woke me up. I knew that it had to become a song and that someone would be encouraged by it.
Instead of starting by hiring an artist, I decided to try a soft launch with AI vocals/instrumentation to get your feedback. I would love to hear from you, whether it's a critique or how it spoke to your heart.
~ Dr. Philip William Calvert
*Verse 1*
There’s a chair by the window where you used to sit
Coffee turning cold but you’d keep sippin’ it
The morning light falls like it always do
But it don’t hit the same without you
Boots by the door, I ain’t moved ‘em yet
Dust on your Bible, pages worn and bent
Every little thing feels outta tune
Since the day you passed on through
*Chorus*
You didn’t stay but you stayed long enough
To teach this broken heart how to heal and love
You were the fire, you loved in truth
And I thank God above you passed on through
Yeah, you left your mark in all I do
In every scar and every breakthrough
This winding road still leads me to
The grace I found when you passed on through
*Verse 2*
Church bells ring but they sound different now
I slowly bow my head but I don’t know how
To fill the space where your hand once laid
Still reach for you at the end of the day
They say time’s gonna ease this pain
But my hurting heart yearns to say your name
In every silence, in every room
I still feel you passin’ through
*Chorus*
You didn’t stay but you stayed long enough
To teach this broken heart how to heal and love
You were the fire, you loved in truth
And I thank God above you passed on through
Yeah, you left your mark in all I do
In every scar and every breakthrough
This winding road still leads me to
The grace I found when you passed on through
*Bridge*
I ain’t sayin’ goodbye… just “wait for me”
On that hallelujah side of eternity
‘Cause a love this strong don’t fade away
It’s just waitin’ for a brighter day
*Final Chorus*
You didn’t stay long, but you stayed [long] enough
To show me mercy, to show me love
And even now I can still feel you
In every breath that’s passin’ through
*Outro*
Yeah, I thank God above
That you passed on through
